The Privilege of Being Alone in the Wild

Discover Africa’s wild heart on expert game drives and bush walks, tailored to wildlife sightings and your preferences. Safety is paramount; a briefing will precede each activity. Please follow your guide’s instructions and remain seated unless otherwise directed. For your comfort, ponchos and blankets are provided for cooler weather or rain.

Safari Drives & Bush Walks

Your field guide will discuss game drive departure times with you to best suit your viewing preferences.

Before each activity, your guide will give a safety briefing. For your safety, please follow all instructions given during a drive or walk.

During a drive, please do not stand up without your guide's consent. Watch for overhanging branches and be aware of uneven terrain. If you need a toilet break, please tell your guide, who will then assess the area's safety before you get out of the vehicle. Ponchos and blankets are available on the vehicle for your comfort in case of bad weather.

Your Window to the Wild

Each game drive at Cheetah Plains presents the opportunity to encounter an extraordinary diversity of wildlife. The reserve is renowned for sightings of the Big Five, which include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and both black and white rhinoceros. You may also encounter cheetah, the endangered African wild dog, giraffe, zebra, hippo, honey badger, hyena and a wide range of antelope species. The bush is home to lesser-seen nocturnal animals such as civets, genets, porcupines and pangolins.

With over 400 recorded bird species and expert trackers to guide your experience, every drive reveals new insights into the intricate balance of life in the Sabi Sand.
